This piece was hand made on the potter’s wheel from porcelain clay. The vase measures 7” tall and approx. 6” diameter. The clay was altered while wet to segment the vase and also give more room for flowers to arrange in the vase. The zinc crystals covering the surface of the piece are a bright white color with a white background. These crystals really glow in the light!
Due to the unique nature of crystalline glazes, no two pieces are ever alike. The crystals are actually grown during the firing and cooling process (which reaches over 2300 degrees Fahrenheit). The time and temperature must be accurate in order to achieve crystal growth on the piece.
