July Open Studio!
The long-anticipated the South Coast Artists Open Studio Tour is back! This weekend marks the 18th Annual Tour, July 17th-18th, 11am-5pm and I am excited to open the doors and welcome visitors back to the studio.
This is a full tour with 75 participating artists over 59 different locations in the surrounding area of Westport & Dartmouth, MA and Little Compton & Tiverton, RI. I have been creating a pottery tornado in the studio and there are items of every stage in the process on every surface possible in the studio.
For the July tour, I will have boatloads of berry bowls in all colors, different shapes and sizes. Just in time for blueberry & raspberry season! Swirly mugs will also be in stock again, in many different colors. Mini heat dishes are back, with new patterns a colors. Gold horse mugs are plentiful; and this weekend will debut the release of new nautical mugs in two shapes and lots of new designs! The kilns are firing non-stop to get all of the work fired and finished for your visit this weekend.
I am also hoping to squeeze in a crystalline firing to have some new vases, sake cups and other items for you to enjoy. The main focus on this July update has been my 'functional' line of work, which has been low in inventory the past several months. For the August 21st-22nd tour, you can expect to see a massive amount of new crystalline items as I have already made the switch to porcelain and am busy creating those items.
What if I can't visit the studio this weekend?
As always, the studio is open by appointment (or chance if you stop by and I am around, and the studio is in adequate condition for visitors). If you are not local, I am planning to do an online shop update July 30th, 2021. As always, email subscribers will receive a special discount code at the launch of a shop update- so make sure you are signed up!
I hope to see you this weekend! Be sure to check out all of the other artists on the tour as well. You can find a brochure at many local businesses in the area, or view it online here. There is also a free and easy to use SCA Mobile App to view all of the artists on the tour and easily navigate to the studios. Check it out for Apple or Android. (This has been my pet project the past few years, so please try it out and let me know what you think!)
