Spring Events at the Studio in Tiverton, Rhode Island

It’s been a true winter this year here in Rhode Island! With cold temperatures arriving in November and record snowstorms, spring will be a very welcome season.

During a brief warm-up recently, the tulips started poking out of the soil — a sure sign that tulip season in Tiverton is just 4–5 weeks away. Before we’re ready to bask in fields of color, I have several upcoming spring events, workshops, and studio visits to share.

If you're looking for spring events in Rhode Island, a hands-on pottery workshop, or a chance to visit the Tiverton studio and tulip gardens, here are a few dates to add to your calendar.

Tulip Season in Tiverton, Rhode Island

Tulip season at the studio typically begins in late April or early May, depending on spring temperatures. After a long Rhode Island winter, the first tulips emerging from the soil are always an exciting sign that warmer days are ahead.

During the Open Studio weekends, visitors are welcome to walk through the tulip gardens, enjoy the colors of the season, and pick up a fresh bouquet of tulips to take home.

The tulips are planted throughout the garden surrounding the studio, creating a vibrant spring display that changes week by week as different varieties come into bloom.

If you're hoping to experience tulip season in Tiverton, the Open Studio weekends in late April and early May are typically the best time to visit.

Attleboro Arts Museum Flower Show

2026 marks the 28th anniversary of the Attleboro Arts Museum’s Flower Show, a beloved spring event in the region. The museum is transformed with lush garden displays, floral arrangements, nature-inspired visual art, live music, and environmental programming.

Each year, more than 2,500 visitors attend the four-day event.

This year’s theme is “No Place Like Home – Backyards of Distinction.” I’m excited to once again create the center garden display, featuring The Potted Garden.

Make a Vase Pottery Workshops

By popular request, I’m offering another round of Make a Vase Workshops here in the studio.

These small-group workshops focus on handbuilding a ceramic vase using slab techniques. Participants will use stamps, natural materials, and flowers to create patterns and textures in the clay before shaping their vase.

Each workshop session is limited to four participants, creating an intimate and hands-on learning experience with plenty of individual instruction.

The workshop also includes a bouquet of tulips, which can be picked up with your finished vase (or during the workshop if the tulips are already blooming).

Dahlia Tuber Sale

The annual dahlia tuber sale will open April 15, 2026 at 6:00 PM ET.

Leading up to the sale, all varieties listed on the website will appear as “Sold Out.” This allows visitors to preview the available cultivars before the sale officially opens.

Open Studio & Seconds Sale

The studio will be open for three spring Open Studio weekends at the end of April and beginning of May. I have been making many new crystalline glazed forms over the winter, and am excited to share these new glazes with you!
