This piece was hand made on the potter’s wheel from porcelain clay. The zinc crystals covering the surface of the piece are a unique combination of coppery/bronze crystals on a green/blue iridescent colored background. This glaze really glows in the light!

Due to the unique nature of crystalline glazes, no two pieces are ever alike. The crystals are actually grown during the firing and cooling process (which reaches over 2300 degrees Fahrenheit). The time and temperature must be accurate in order to achieve crystal growth on the piece. The type of light this vase is seen in can effect the color. In direct sunlight, the piece comes alive and seems to glow as the light reflects the shiny surface.
