This piece was hand made on the potter’s wheel from porcelain clay by Lindsey and measures

approx. 3.5” tall and approx. 3.5" diameter.
The ruby zinc crystals covering the surface float on a pewter, white, silver and teal background.
Due to the unique nature of crystalline glazes, no two pieces are ever alike. The crystals are actually grown during the firing and cooling process (which reaches over 2300 degrees Fahrenheit). The time and temperature must be accurate in order to achieve crystal growth on the piece. After the initial glaze firing, the piece was fired again where the atmosphere was starved for oxygen, changing the crystals from all blue to the red color.
