This Dinner Plate Dahlia produces large, buttermilk-colored blooms up to 10" across that blush with pink and hints a latte/champagne. These flowers have a lot of variety, even within the same plant. Blooms start as a vibrant pink & white. As the season progresses and the flowers mature, expect more delicious color variations to appear. Excellent as a cut flower, 'Café Au Lait' is hugely popular in wedding bouquets and arrangements. Prefers full sun. 3-4' plant height.
Planting: Your tubers can go directly into the ground in the spring when the ground has warmed and there is little chance of frost. One good guideline is to plant in the same time frame as you would a tomato. If you want blooms as early as possible, you can start the tubers indoors in good light about a month before planting time. You will then have a small plant ready at planting time. Dahlias can be planted as late as mid-June in most parts of the country.
