This vase was hand-made from porcelain clay on the potter's wheel by Lindsey. It is glazed with an iridescent iron and copper green zinc crystalline glaze on a satiny background. The crystals seem to pop off the surface of this unique vase. This color looks darker in dark light and glows brilliantly in natural light.
Due to the unique nature of crystalline glazes, no two pieces are ever alike. The crystals are actually grown during the firing and cooling process. The time and temperature must be accurate in order to achieve crystal growth on the piece. Copper, manganese and iron are used in the glaze in order to achieve the deep green color.
