This listing is for one crystalline glazed vase.
This vase was hand-made from porcelain clay on the potter's wheel. The clay was cut and altered to create the tulip-like shape. Due to the unique nature of crystalline glazes, no two pieces are ever alike. The zinc crystals are actually grown during the firing and cooling process. The time and temperature must be accurate in order to achieve crystal growth on the piece.

This vase is part of a series of vases created as a tribute to my friend and studio assistant Charlie (a great dane/boxer mix of love), as a part of the Attleboro Arts Museum 2024 flower show exhibit. The final images are from the display at the museum. These vases are the first items created in 2024, and the first items since Charlie's passing in February. A second installation of this project was created in September, 2024 for an Invitational Exhibition on kindness.
A portion of each sale of these vases will be donated to charity. Currently, the sale of the vases will be donated to CERF+, an organization committed to helping artists impacted by disasters in addition to local animal rescue organizations.
The glaze on this vase is my periwinkle crystalline glaze. The background is a mauve color with periwinkle purple-blue crystals on the surface. The depth and dimension in the glaze are quite stunning- the crystals seem to move and dance about the surface of the vase as the light hits it. You can sit for hours looking at the vase, finding new patterns and designs that the crystals have created during their growing process.
