Vancouver tuber.
1 tuber.
Dahlia 'Vancouver’ is a semi cactus, tall dinner plate dahlia. It has dark purple to violet to pinkish flower heads which produce particularly long, white tipped petals which reach almost 8" in diameter. It adds drama to the back of borders from July to the first frosts. This is one of my favorites! Not the best tuber producer, but the blooms are simply stunning! Bloom size can vary, and benefits from disbuding for larger blooms.
- Bloom size: 6-10"
- Plant height: 3-4'
Planting: Your tubers can go directly into the ground in the spring when the ground has warmed and there is little chance of frost. One good guideline is to plant in the same time frame as you would a tomato. If you want blooms as early as possible, you can start the tubers indoors in good light about a month before planting time. You will then have a small plant ready at planting time. Dahlias can be planted as late as mid-June in most parts of the country.
